Using a coupon on a date in can be seen as unheard of and deemed as not wise or inappropriate way start a first date.
Using coupons can make you look a bit cheap or rigid because most coupons are for specific restaurant. If you have been going out and you’re both more comfortable with each other then is will be okay or other than it can be a bit tacky. Ideally will be nice to use coupons on your second date. Others might see using coupons on a first date as someone who can manage their finance very well.
Using coupons on a first date may either get you a date or get you dumped, either way is worth going with your instinct.
1. The “Best Foot Forward at All Costs” Guy
You’re the type who will make sure you appear, sound, even smell at your best in order to make a good first impression. You wouldn’t want your date to get a whiff of your desire to save a little bit of money on something that seems frivolous, such as eating out, to begin with, so you’ll say no to coupons on a first date.
Pros and Cons
a. You feel the coupon thingie is not worth the penny for embarrassing your Gorgeous Date on your first date, so forget it…No coupons tonight.
(+/-) It’s an ego boost knowing you can afford to take someone out and make her feel good. Whether you ‘can’ or ‘can not’ really afford it is another Oprah
b. Her carefully airbrushed jaw might drop all the way down to her $595.00 Ferragamo shoes when she sees you pull out The Coupon.
Note to self: The dot goes after the second 5, NOT after the first.
(-) She may decide not to answer your next text message for fear you might charge her for texting you back.
2. The “Pragmatic, This is Who I Am” Guy
You let your date know you’re definitely the type who forgoes impression for practicality. It’s not that you don’t care. It’s just that your belief is, there is no need to impress her now when the truth will eventually come out.
Pros and Cons
a. At least you can let her know money is a top priority in your life – especially when it comes to makin’ it, savin’ it and spendin’ it, so from the get-go, you want to send her the message that money is to be spent wisely in order to get more out of what you paid for
(+) You are being YOU – the forthright, ‘take-it-or-leave-it’ self. It’s nice to be you.
b. She will not balk at you when you decide to use coupons later on since your first coupon date was permanently imprinted with a Gold Seal in her mind
(+) You can avoid the assumption that every single date will be coupon-free. No expectations, no drama.
c. She could think of you as a practical, down-to-earth kinda guy and she might really think it’s so cool that you’re ‘real’
(+) She wouldn’t mind clipping the coupons herself this Sunday and bringing them over when she picks you up for a BOGO (Buy One Get One) breakfast at IHOP!
Did I miss any other + or -’s?
I’m gonna let you think about this. Then, YOU decide, and tell me whether it’s cool or not from your POV.
